Complete or partial removable dentures require adhesives or pastes to remain in your mouth, but implant-supported dentures are connected to metal posts in your jawbone so they are stable and secure. This means that the dentures won't slip or move, even when speaking or eating. With more support and security, patients with implant-supported dentures can rest assured that their teeth will stay in place. Implant-supported dentures look great and can be treated just like your natural teeth. At Alpine Dental Arts, Lakewood, CO patients can have custom full, partial, upper complete, or lower complete implant dentures that look natural and feel comfortable. Learn more about implant-supported dentures and if they are right for your needs. Schedule an appointment with Lakewood, CO dentist Dr. Justin Becerra.

"If you’ve ever felt anxiety about going to the dentist - look no more! Alpine Dental Arts provides a dentist, Justin Becerra, DDS, and staff that will ease your worries! My husband and I had been discussing changing our dentist. A friend of our family was insistent that we give her dentist a try, because her entire family was so impressed with them. My husband and I decided to give Alpine Dental Arts a try, and we actually signed up with a new dental plan to make that happen. We were NOT disappointed ~ Dr Becerra and his staff are amazing! We all know how important the front desk is for first impressions and accommodations. Ramona and Kathy are very welcoming to each and every client, greeting them by name. They are very knowledgeable on dental procedures, and are always willing to assist with all insurance needs. They share a great sense of humor, as does the entire staff, which always helps to make you feel a little more relaxed and comfortable, especially in a dental office.I had the pleasure of having my first 6 month checkup/cleaning done by Crystal. She did a fabulous job with cleaning my teeth, and I told her that she was the first hygienist to clean my teeth without any discomfort. After my cleanings, I leave their office feeling like I had not been to the dentist. Crystal is very professional, does a great job as a hygienist, and is very calming. I have not had the pleasure of working with Joan, but I’m sure she is just as accommodating and professional. Then there is Barb, who has totally turned my life around with a beautiful smile! She accomplished this without me having to go through expensive braces or invasive procedures. I’m 65, and had pretty much planned on dealing with my teeth as they were from here on out. Over the years, they had turned yellow, and it was difficult for me to smile when having my picture taken. The tops of my front lower teeth had been chiseled away by my teeth grinding. I had two upper, pointed canines that had open spaces between nearby teeth. I finally decided to have my teeth whitened professionally, since the over the counter products didn’t seem to do the job. Barb was so patient and explained the whitening process very thoroughly. During my followup visit, she suggested I might be interested in having some bonding work done on the above mentioned problem areas. I wasn’t even aware of such procedures. She actually performed a quick sample of the procedure on my teeth so I would have an idea of what it would look like (before and after). Needless to say, I had the procedures done by Barb, at a low cost. She was very careful, and it was obvious she is a perfectionist. She wanted everything placed perfectly and shining. It was a very simple and quick procedure, with no pain, and no novocaine. It did wonders for my self-esteem!The newest member of the team, Justin Becerra, DDS, replaced the previous and wonderful Steven Anundsen, DDS (who retired). Dr Becerra is amazing as well. Both my husband and I felt very comfortable with Dr Becerra, and both agreed that he is definitely well educated in his field. He kept the incredible staff, which was encouraging to their clients, right from the start. He is very professional, and joins the entire staff with the ability to enlighten your day. Kudos to Alpine Dental Arts!"- C.D. / Google / Sep 06, 2018
You may be a candidate for implant-supported dentures if you're currently using removable dentures or if you need dentures to replace most of your teeth. A big advantage over removable dentures, implant-supported dentures don't require soaking and adhesives. Implant dentures have fewer food restrictions compared to removable dentures, and they can be cleaned just like your natural teeth. The implant replaces the natural roots of your teeth, so your jawbone and gums are unlikely to become weak. At your appointment, Dr. Becerra will examine the current condition of your mouth to decide if your jawbone and gums are able to hold the implants. If needed, bone and/or gum grafting may be performed to strengthen specific areas before the implants are placed.
What to Expect
Prior to any treatment, Dr. Becerra will complete a thorough exam, including digital imaging to evaluate the condition of your jawbone and gums. If your gums or jawbone are not strong enough to hold the implants, a gum and/or bone graft surgery may be performed. As soon as the grafted area has healed and is sufficiently dense, the implants can be placed.
You will be given a local anesthesia to numb your mouth before the procedure. Sedation options can be discussed if the procedure is lengthy or if it helps you feel more comfortable. Dr. Becerra will make surgical incisions in your gums and place implant posts in the holes in the jawbone. For dentures, four or more implants are usually needed for each arch. The incisions will be closed with part of the post showing above the gums. A temporary denture will be used to cover the posts as your mouth heals in 4 – 6 months . The implants will integrate with your gums and jawbone. As soon as Dr. Becerra feels the implants are strong enough, your custom-made dentures can be connected to the posts and fitted.
Implant-supported dentures should be cleaned like natural teeth with daily brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. You should continue to attend yearly dental cleanings, exams, and follow-up appointments at Alpine Dental Arts to have the wear and fit of your dentures checked. With the proper care, implant-supported dentures can last several years. Dr. Becerra can help you decide when your implant-supported dentures should be replaced or repaired when the time comes.
Based on your insurance provider, the expense of implant dentures will most likely be partially covered. Before your surgery, we will talk to your provider to calculate your personal cost. Alpine Dental Arts takes several methods of payment, and we can help you find low-interest medical financing to help make your treatment more affordable.
Implant-supported dentures give you back your smile so that you can talk and eat just like you did with your natural teeth. If you want to enjoy confidence in the strength of your dental restoration, contact Alpine Dental Arts to schedule your appointment. Dr. Becerra will help you get an attractive smile that is both natural and comfortable.
