Complete or partial removable dentures require adhesives or pastes to remain in your mouth, but implant-supported dentures are connected to metal posts in your jawbone so they are stable and secure. This means that the dentures won't slip or move, even when speaking or eating. With more support and security, patients with implant-supported dentures can rest assured that their teeth will stay in place. Implant-supported dentures look great and can be treated just like your natural teeth. At Alpine Dental Arts, Lakewood, CO patients can have custom full, partial, upper complete, or lower complete implant dentures that look natural and feel comfortable. Learn more about implant-supported dentures and if they are right for your needs. Schedule an appointment with Lakewood, CO dentist Dr. Justin Becerra.
"Great dentist great employees. Made me feel very welcome."- B.C. / Google / Jun 21, 2019
"I was recently recommended to Alpine Dental Arts due to a broken bridge, which left me with no upper front teeth. The staff was able to schedule me in the next day. By the end of the day, I was fitted with a temporary bridge. I met with Dr. Beccera, and was given options for the work needed. I found the entire staff and Dr. Becerra to be friendly and knowledgeable, making this unforseen visit easy and comfortable. I am having the balance of the dental work done next week. I am not a person to write reviews, however I was so pleased with the ordeal, I wanted to share my experience."- C.C. / Google / May 30, 2019

He makes sure to inform his patients on all possible treatments and takes his time to make sure they understand everything before anything is done. He works quickly and efficiently and makes sure things are done right the first time. He is highly ethical and uses quality materials for all work. You may be a candidate for implant-supported dentures if you're currently using removable dentures or if you need dentures to replace most of your teeth. A big advantage over removable dentures, implant-supported dentures don't require soaking and adhesives. Implant dentures have fewer food restrictions compared to removable dentures, and they can be cleaned just like your natural teeth. The implant replaces the natural roots of your teeth, so your jawbone and gums are unlikely to become weak. At your appointment, Dr. Becerra will examine the current condition of your mouth to decide if your jawbone and gums are able to hold the implants. If needed, bone and/or gum grafting may be performed to strengthen specific areas before the implants are placed.
What to Expect
Prior to any treatment, Dr. Becerra will complete a thorough exam, including digital imaging to evaluate the condition of your jawbone and gums. If your gums or jawbone are not strong enough to hold the implants, a gum and/or bone graft surgery may be performed. As soon as the grafted area has healed and is sufficiently dense, the implants can be placed.
You will be given a local anesthesia to numb your mouth before the procedure. Sedation options can be discussed if the procedure is lengthy or if it helps you feel more comfortable. Dr. Becerra will make surgical incisions in your gums and place implant posts in the holes in the jawbone. For dentures, four or more implants are usually needed for each arch. The incisions will be closed with part of the post showing above the gums. A temporary denture will be used to cover the posts as your mouth heals in 4 – 6 months . The implants will integrate with your gums and jawbone. As soon as Dr. Becerra feels the implants are strong enough, your custom-made dentures can be connected to the posts and fitted.
Implant-supported dentures should be cleaned like natural teeth with daily brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. You should continue to attend yearly dental cleanings, exams, and follow-up appointments at Alpine Dental Arts to have the wear and fit of your dentures checked. With the proper care, implant-supported dentures can last several years. Dr. Becerra can help you decide when your implant-supported dentures should be replaced or repaired when the time comes.
Based on your insurance provider, the expense of implant dentures will most likely be partially covered. Before your surgery, we will talk to your provider to calculate your personal cost. Alpine Dental Arts takes several methods of payment, and we can help you find low-interest medical financing to help make your treatment more affordable.
Implant-supported dentures give you back your smile so that you can talk and eat just like you did with your natural teeth. If you want to enjoy confidence in the strength of your dental restoration, contact Alpine Dental Arts to schedule your appointment. Dr. Becerra will help you get an attractive smile that is both natural and comfortable.
