Endodontics

Endodontics is a specialized area of dentistry focused on the soft tissue inside the tooth, known as the pulp. The pulp tissue helped your permanent teeth form and continues to both nourish and strengthen your teeth today— in essence, it keeps them alive. While a certified endodontist may be needed for more complex pulp issues, the most common endodontic treatment is a simple root canal. Our team is particularly skilled in delivering high-quality root canal therapy.

Do you need a root canal?

We are certainly qualified to determine that for you. However, you may be experiencing some of the following symptoms:

  • Severe sensitivity to hot and cold
  • Swelling or tenderness surrounding the tooth
  • General sensitivity after repeated procedures on a tooth
  • Recent tooth trauma

If you experience any of these, please let us know. We will answer any of your questions and alleviate any concerns you might have. We will decide together what is the best course of action for your unique needs. A root canal is a surprisingly simple procedure, much like a filling. We drill the problem tooth, clean out the pulp, and fill in the canal with a composite material to prevent future infection. We typically crown the tooth to ensureits lasting strength.

The pulp of your tooth can become inflamed or infected for a variety of reasons, or it can be damaged after a blow to the tooth. Please call us immediately if this is the case—it is possible for a tooth to die.
